Two More Sleeps

Tonight and tomorrow night I have the bed all to myself, but I'm looking forward to moving back to "my side" after that!

But what's even better is how excited I know Isaiah will be to see his daddy!  I love how attached he is becoming to the most important man in his life!  He asks me several times every hour to call Daddy, which just isn't possible, but I love how much he is thinking about his daddy.

And it used to be that every morning when Isaiah got up he would want to snuggle with me in our big bed.  Now, as we walk to my room, he says, Daddy, but when he realizes that Daddy isn't there, too, he won't go near the bed, and we have to find some other place for our morning snuggle.

Yep, I think it's love.

What a Week!

First, I will say, everything and everyone is all right, no new injuries to report; and now I'll tell you what happened, well, eventually...

This has been a really hard week for us.  Thomas has had many ministry opportunities that require a lot of planning, not the least of which was preaching this afternoon.  With all his responsibilities he still had the brunt of Isaiah's physical care as my arm continues to heal.  It seems like whenever Thomas is asked to preach, something random always happens to distract or hinder him, such as being "Mr. Mom" for the past 2 weeks.  Thankfully my arm was feeling a bit better yesterday, and I was able to somewhat clumsily take care of all of Isaiah's needs this morning to enable Thomas to finish his final preparations for preaching in Russian.

The day was going well; we made it to church at a decent time and everything.  Then, in the middle of Thomas' sermon Isaiah got his first ever bloody nose.  Isaiah was sitting with me on the front row, quietly listening to Daddy.  I looked down to see his nose and hands covered in blood!

Perhaps needless to say, Thomas couldn't help being a little distracted by my subsequent attentions to his son; but thankfully he was able to get back on track and finish his sermon!  Just another reminder of how we need to pray for those who preach the good news!  They have to be prepared for anything!

And yes, Isaiah is just fine.

Chatting

Thomas has been gone all day today to Moscow. He had to leave insanely early. He returns late tonight. I love it when Thomas calls me while he's away though because even though he might be gone for less than 24 hours, I miss him tons.

But what I love even better than hearing his voice for myself is hearing the actual conversation that I heard one side of tonight as Isaiah talked to his daddy before supper. This was the first time that Isaiah's actually had a real conversation with his daddy on the phone, or anyone for that matter. I could tell from his responses that he completely understood what Daddy said and was responding appropriately, and my heart burst with delight.

I love my men.

SEW: Back to Normal

After 2 weeks, the boys are back together! And all is right in our little corner of the world.

Ok, That's Better

Well, I think that I've decided that having a good snow can help make up for not having as much sun--although we have had a couple days during which we were quite excited to see the sun! We were able to enjoy some wonderful family time in the park near our apartment. I'm not sure who had more fun, Isaiah getting pulled around on his new sled, or Thomas and I as we pulled him around and ran around a little bit ourselves.

Here are some pics from our fun:

Faster, Daddy!

I think he liked it

Again! Go back up, Mama!

Isaiah got a little covered in the quickly falling snow, which didn't seem to matter one bit!

And in honor of our wonderful snow, I've decided that a white blog page can be just as cheerful and bright as obnoxious green. Hope the white is a little easier on your eyes than bright green.

The Men of the Year

With the close of 2007 lots of magazines display their "Person of the Year". Well, I realize that this is not a magazine and not read by nearly as many people as choose to read such magazines, but I thought that I'd let you see my choices for the 2007 Persons of the Year--that's not a typo, I have 2. And here they are:

I thought it appropriate to show them in a grand setting like a throne room of a Russian palace with Peter the Great looking over their shoulders.

And here they are "taming the beasts".

These two guys give me so much joy and fun and love that I can't imagine being without them! Being in a foreign country so far from all our other family has helped us to grow closer than we already were. I love being together as a family. We laugh and we play and we are serious, sometimes. Isaiah adds so much to our lives with his playful spirit and ready smile and incredible hugs! Thomas leads our family so well in this new and sometimes strange place, giving comfort and reassurance and encouragement when I need it most.

So, these to men (little and not-so-little) get my vote for Persons of the Year, 2007!
