My Husband Rocks

We use public transportation everywhere we go that's beyond a nice walk. Supposedly younger people get up so that older people, people with disabilities or children can sit down. I say supposedly because unfortunately this is not often the case.

But not with my husband! Sure, he loves to be able to sit for the typically hour-long ride that we have on the metro whenever we go somewhere, but just watch him when the wagon stops and the doors open. He doesn't wait and see if someone who needs to sit comes and stands near him. Nope, not my husband! He actually watches for people coming onto the wagon who might need a seat. Then without any ceremony or any questions he gets up and tells the person to sit down.

I think that's pretty awesome. And it's just a small way that he puts other people before himself.

My Husband Rocks

This time I was actually late for this post on purpose! My husband rocks because he gave us a new kitchen floor! He did all this work himself with his own very capable and talented hands. He's quite a man!

Here are some before pics, though they really don't convey the true disgustingness of our kitchen floor!

Isaiah enjoyed watching his daddy work, we just had to keep him at a safe distance, not an easy task.

And here's my wonderful husband feeling awkward in this picture displaying his handiwork.

I LOVE our new floor. But I love my husband more, and not just because of the new floor.

My Husband Rocks

My husband rocks because for the past 2 weeks he's been 4 time zones away and then 6 times zones away (yet still in the same country), and he's tried very hard to always make sure he can call in the evening so that he can say good night to Isaiah. He's tired and working hard and doesn't always know what his schedule will be like from day to day, but he still calls us a few times a day, and always when he can say "night night" to our precious boy!

And we're ready for him to come home!

My Husband Rocks

Thomas has been incredibly busy lately finishing up lessons, preparing a Russian sermon, planning and coordinating a 2-week Siberian trip, and all the other normal stuff of life. But today we're having a date. And you know where we're going? A Mexican restaurant! That's right. He knows how much I LOVE Mexican food, and he found a Mexican restaurant that's actually pretty close to our apartment. Ole! (don't know how to do that accent mark, any suggestions?)

But that's not even really why he's so wonderful. In the midst of all his planning and cramming and translating and on and on and on, he's taken several opportunities to check on me this week in very attentive and specific ways. Not that his attention is unusual, but this week it meant a lot more to me. Maybe I noticed it more, I don't know. But I do know that the beautiful bouquet of daisies on my kitchen table, some unexpected alone time carved into his schedule and the extra care that he's given to our son this week have stood out to me.

What can I say? I love him. A lot.

My Husband Rocks

It just doesn't seem possible for me to get this done on Fridays.  I think it's usually because we're super busy on Fridays hosting guests or going out and about.  But better late than never, right?  And I completely missed doing it last week.

But this week, just one reason why my husband rocks....

Friday we had 3 other families over for supper.  We were hoping to cook out with this little grill that we bought off  my friend Deanna (who I really miss, by the way!) in our nice little park only a 5 minute walk away from our apartment.  But in the style of true Russian weather (read as, unpredictable) it rained off and on all day, leaving the ground pretty soggy for anything that would involve sitting on the ground.

So what did my husband do?  He found a way to grill indoors!  Now don't panic, there was no fire involved.  He bought wood chips and figured out a way to smoke chicken and peppers indoors, then he finished cooking them in the oven.  Can you say DELICIOUS?!  Good, because that's what it was!

I love his resourcefulness, especially when we get yummy food out of it. :)

My Husband Rocks Fridays (a little late)

A couple weeks ago (I'm way behind on my posting!), International Academy had its Spring Concert.  Thomas directed the Jr. High/Sr. High Choir, Chamber Choir and then the entire student body (K-5 through 12th grade!).

I'm always impressed with his musical talents, but I must say that I'm really impressed with how he can get all those kids to listen to him, and how he can even get them all to sing!  He did a great job!

My Husband Rocks Fridays

I saw this meme (I think that's the right term) over on Kristin's blog, and I thought I'd join in because my husband rocks, too!  It's actually hosted on The Great Adventure.  I figure one of the best things I can do for my children is to leave them no doubt as to how much I love their daddy.  So here's one of the many reasons why my husband rocks!

Ok, so this is an older picture, but it illustrates just one way that my husband rocks!  Not only can he play the guitar amazingly well (which is pretty awesome!), but he also realized that our Little Man loves the guitar, too.  So what did my incredible husband do?  He made Little Man his own guitar, of course!
Now does he rock, or does he rock!  I love how much my husband loves our son.
