Welcome to the Party

This might seem a little odd to those of you who regularly read my blog, especially since most of you are family ;), but I'm joining the Titus 2 party hosted over at She Looketh Well.  The first step to joining in on the fun was to invite friends, which I did; then you write a post about yourself and link to She Looketh Well so that people you don't know but are in on the party can come check out your blog.  It's a neat way to get to know some new people who probably have similar goals of following their biblical calling.

So, without further ado...

Welcome to Random Thoughts!

My name is Cristy.  I am a wife and mother.  My family lives in St. Petersburg, Russia; which is always an adventure.

This is the place that helps me stay connected to my friends and family on the other side of the globe.  My hopes were to keep interested people updated on Isaiah's growth and development, what life is like in Russia and how our ministry here is progressing.  I think that I predominantly write about Isaiah, however. :)  He does occupy most of my time, which is tons of fun!

My heart is to serve my Lord by following the calling that He has given me by first being a godly wife and mother to my husband and child (soon to be children!).  Where that takes place is rather inconsequential to me, though I do love that God has called us as a family to Russia.

We're all learning Russian, my husband and I through formal lessons, and Isaiah (only 3) through playdates and time with our Russian friends.  He'll probably end up speaking Russian better than either my husband or me!  Learning Russian has actually taught me a lot more about myself than I thought I could learn in a year and a half.  It's a humbling experience which has brought me closer to God and to my husband.

So, I'm not sure how much more to say.  If you would like to know more about our family specifically, there is a link on the sidebar with a picture of the 3 of us in an igloo.  Feel free to check that out, too, if you have time. :)

I'm going to go meet some more bloggers now!

Oh it must be so interesting over there. It must also be difficult to be away from your family. You are a very brave soul. Isaiah is so cute!

Wow! What a cool life! Thank you so much for taking part in the party! What a treat to have you here.

Russian, is it hard? As I get older I have enough trouble with English ;-)

God has placed me in more than one situation where I was totally clueless or the who knew so little and it did indeed show me a few things about myself. 1. I like to be the one in the know, and when I am not, 2. I feel a bit insecure. Which of course causes me to cling to Him all the more!

Thank you for sharing your life with us. The kids are thrilled to 'meet' someone living in Russia!

Have a lovely week

Thanks for stopping by to visit, ladies!

Russia is definitely an interesting place to live! I never thought that I'd be here, but overall I really like it.

The language is tremendously hard! We're doing all right with it, but it's tough! "Clueless" would be a good description of how I felt my entire first year and still a good bit even now!

Michelle, if your kids ever need some Russia info for homeschool, let me know, and I'll see what I can help with!

By grace,
Cristy

Ahhh, you and I share the same goals for our lives! Although I haven't learned Russian, I DO understand what you are saying about feeling completely humbled and "out of it" learning a new language. Learning Indonesian was one of the most difficult things I've ever done (I didn't know I struggled with pride before that!)
Thanks for sharing your heart with us here today. I think I've found a kindred spirit in you! Feel free to e-mail anytime...if you are having a bad language day, are feeling lonely, or just want to write someone who understands. My e-mail is brihudhanna at yahoo dot com.
Blessings!

Ok, just had to come back for a quick sec. Are you with Interact? I saw a link to Gary B's blog below, and, well, since I'm from Boring OR I just had to ask. Our family was with Interact serving in remote Alaska for two years. :)
Blessings!

Congratulations on your baby #2!!

I started to teach myself russian many years ago, and once I discovered how many articles and words have 3 genders each, I gave up. I think immersion learning (like your son) would be the way to go!! Blessings as you have a healthy pregnancy and learn that beautiful language!!

Hello; it's nice to meet you. My father's fiance lives in Moscow (though she was born and raised in St. Petersburg), so I am enjoying learning about Russian culture--though no language study, as yet :) I hope to learn more through your blog.

Hi there! So nice to meet you! Pretty happenin' party! :-)

I lived in Mongolia with my husband and kids for four years. When we moved back to California I started my blog to keep all our ministry supporters and friends/family in Mongolia up to date with the children, family and ministry. And it's turned into so much more! It makes me some spending money. It's my creative outlet. I've made lots of friends. So much fun!!

Blessings to you in Russia!

Hi CristyLynn

So nice to meet you. Hope you're enjoying the blog party!

My BIL and his Japanese wife live in China. My neice who is just over 2 years old speaks English, Chinese and Japanese so your 'little man' will probably end up speaking Russian before you and your husband and probably better too!

Blessings, Jules

So nice to meet you. Sounds like you have a full life in Russia, serving our Lord and caring for your growing family. Congratulations on your second blessing of joy!
